Joan Luber Jacobs, an independent college counselor, is committed to helping students identify and gain admission to the best school that fits his or her selection criteria. During one-on-one sessions, Ms. Jacobs puts her first-hand experience in school admissions to work. As a former admissions reader for UCSD, Ms. Jacobs shares her insider knowledge and national network of university contacts to help students and parents navigate the ever-changing college admissions process. She served as a counselor at Torrey Pines High School and psychologist in the San Dieguito Union High School District for over 28 years. She is highly regarded for her advocacy of students with learning differences.

 

In a monthly column for the Del Mar Times, Ms. Jacobs has written articles on How Much Does the SAT Count? and Junior Colleges: The Back Door to a Dream College. She lectures in the UCSD College Counseling Certificate Program, and is a speaker through the Western Association of College Admissions Counseling (WACAC).

 

When not visiting colleges, she can be found exercising, volunteering with Kids Korps, Dollars for Scholars, and spending time with her family.
